Look Good Feel Better™
Third Monday of each month
Augusta American Cancer Society Office
This program is for women in active cancer treatment. This free service teaches women techniques to help them restore self-image and cope with appearance-related side effects of treatment. Offered in partnership with the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association and the National Cosmetology Association, participants can choose from a large variety of new, fashion current wigs and receive a make-up kit of cosmetics valued between $300-$400. Volunteer make-up artists and cosmetologists work with each woman to help her learn new application techniques.
Reach to Recovery™
Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, this service offers one-on-one support and information to women coping with breast cancer. Specially trained survivors serve as volunteers to respond in person or by phone to women facing breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and recurrence.
Road to Recovery™
Assistance is available to any cancer patient needing transportation to area treatment facilities and is sponsored by Doctors Hospital and the Augusta American Cancer Society. Local drivers volunteer through the American Cancer Society and Doctors Hospital reimburses gas mileage. The Lydia Project, Inc.
This project offers a women’s cancer survivorship ministry to help those seeking emotional and spiritual support. Free tote bags are provided to all women undergoing cancer treatment, not just breast cancer patients. The hand-sewn bags serve as symbolic and visual reminders of the organization’s faith-based mission. Each totebag is monogrammed with the words Faith, Hope, or Love, and is filled with cancer-related information, practical items, a prayer request card, and the name of the seamstress who made the tote.
